Craig S. Johnson, M.D.

A native Oklahoman, Dr. Johnson graduated from OU in Norman and earned his medical degree from the OU Health Sciences Center. He completed his general surgery residency at the OUHSC Tulsa campus. Dr. Johnson completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.  He is board certified in general and colon and rectal surgery.

His practice is limited to the treatment of diseases of the colon and rectum.

Dr. Johnson has been performing minimally invasive colon surgery since 1992.  Since 2010, his practice has been focused on robotic colon and rectal surgery.  Dr. Johnson heads one of eight colorectal case observation training centers in the country at Oklahoma Surgical Hospital.  He is actively involved in teaching courses and individual surgeons in robotic colon and rectal surgery.  Dr. Johnson, with nine other surgeons across the country, recently published a study in the Annals of Surgical Oncology, “Robotic Rectal Cancer Resection: A Retrospective Multicenter Analysis”.

Robotic colon and rectal surgery is used in the treatment of colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease and benign conditions of the colon and rectum.

Dr. Johnson has specialized in colorectal surgery since 1992 and has practiced colorectal surgery at Surgical Associates since 1996.
