da Vinci SP Robotic Surgery
Your procedure. Your surgeon’s plan.
Our broader surgical practice includes da Vinci SP, a single-port robotic system designed for certain minimally invasive procedures. It combines a detailed 3D view with flexible instruments controlled by your surgeon.
- Single-port access
- A magnified, three-dimensional view
- Instruments controlled by your surgeon
Gastric bypass and gastric sleeve do not automatically involve da Vinci SP. The technology shown is used across our broader practice. Your surgeon will explain the system and technique appropriate for your procedure.

Ask about bypass or sleeveHow are gastric bypass and gastric sleeve different?
Gastric bypass creates a small stomach pouch and reroutes part of the small intestine. Gastric sleeve removes most of the stomach, leaving a narrow sleeve, without rerouting the intestines. Both change how much you can eat, but they work differently.
Which procedure is right for me?
There is no single choice for everyone. Your surgeon will consider your medical history, weight-related health conditions, goals, and the risks of each procedure before discussing suitable options.
Are gastric bypass and gastric sleeve reversible?
Gastric sleeve is not reversible because part of the stomach is permanently removed. Gastric bypass is difficult to reverse. Discuss the long-term implications of either procedure with your surgeon before deciding.
What follow-up will I need after bypass or sleeve surgery?
Both procedures involve changes to eating habits and ongoing follow-up. Your team will explain recovery, nutrition guidance, and any prescribed vitamin and mineral supplements. Your follow-up plan will depend on your procedure and health.
Will my insurance cover gastric bypass or gastric sleeve?
Coverage and approval requirements vary by insurance plan and procedure. Confirm your benefits with your insurer and ask our office about the next steps. A consultation request does not establish eligibility or coverage.
